Cannabis Industry Council AGM, Masterclass & Social
Fieldfisher, London | 27 May, 2026 | 4:00pm – 8:00pm

Members and Member Guests are warmly invited to attend the Cannabis Industry Council’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), Masterclass & Social, presented in partnership with Fieldfisher, SEVEN by BRITISH CANNABIS and Plantz, taking place on Tuesday 27 May at Fieldfisher’s London offices.

The event will bring together CIC members and industry leaders for an afternoon of insight, updates, and meaningful connection. Proceedings will begin at 4:00pm with informal networking over tea and coffee, followed by the AGM session and a forward-looking Masterclass exploring digital health and technology within the cannabis sector– a rapidly evolving area shaping the future of patient access, data, and innovation.

The content schedule of our CIC MasterClass is as follows:

Marketing Medical Cannabis – Spreading the word, whilst staying compliant
Speaker: Robert Jappie (Partner, Regulatory & Life Sciences, Fieldfisher)

Session Description: This session will focus on an increasingly scrutinised area: how medical cannabis businesses can market themselves effectively without breaching restrictions on POM advertising. Recent coverage in The Times, The Independent, and other media outlets has brought particular attention to the use of celebrity and influencer-led strategies, including campaigns that encourage patients to seek prescriptions for specific products. This raises fundamental questions about the boundary between promoting a clinical service and unlawfully advertising prescription-only medicines. Drawing on our experience advising across the sector, I will set out the legal framework and how it is being applied in practice. The session will give attendees a clear sense of how enforcement is likely to develop, and how to build scalable, compliant marketing strategies in a highly sensitive environment.

Session 1: Data Breaches, Patient Trust & Regulatory Exposure
Speaker: Nuria Pastor (Data and Privacy Lawyer at Fieldfisher LLP)

Session Description: This session will examine the growing data protection risks facing medical cannabis operators, and the regulatory and reputational consequences when governance frameworks fall short. As the sector continues to expand rapidly, data maturity has not always kept pace with growth. The handling of highly sensitive patient information, including prescription data, demands robust compliance frameworks, and the cost of getting it wrong is significant. Nuria will explore how UK GDPR applies in this context, what a compliant breach response looks like in practice, and where clinics are most exposed. The session will also address enforcement trends and litigation risk, before turning to the practical steps operators can take to protect both patients and their businesses.

AI Beyond the Hype – What It Actually Means for Healthcare and Cannabis
Speaker: Neil Cartwright (Co-Founder, Plantz.io)

Session Description: By now, we’ve all been told a million times how AI is transforming everything. But how many people can confidently explain what AI actually is, why it now underpins 8 of the world’s top 10 companies by market capitalisation, and what that really means for industries like healthcare and cannabis? This session cuts through the noise. Drawing on his background as a technologist and co-founder of Plantz.io, a natural wellness platform built on proprietary AI knowledge infrastructure, Neil Cartwright will deliver a practical, jargon-free masterclass on artificial intelligence. The session will cover what AI is (and isn’t), why its rise is more significant than most realise, and what the specific implications are for cannabis businesses, healthcare providers, and the patients they serve. Attendees will leave with a clear, grounded understanding of the technology, and actionable thinking on what they can do about it right now.

The AGM will provide key organisational updates, including leadership remarks, member introductions, and sector developments. Attendees will also hear from guest speakers.

Following the formal sessions, guests are invited to stay for a networking drinks reception, offering the opportunity to connect with peers across the industry.
