CIC Standards & Awareness Pillar 3 – 2026 Updates
Activities under Pillar 3, the CIC’s Education, Awareness & Standards pillar, are progressing this year, with a growing focus on improving patient education, awareness, and the development of meaningful industry standards across the UK medical cannabis industry.
Following the release of the CIC’s “Travelling with Medical Cannabis” guide earlier this year, the pillar’s Education Taskforce is now working on additional educational resources, including upcoming papers covering driving and medical cannabis, as well as nursing. These projects are intended to support clearer understanding around important and often misunderstood areas of patient care and access.
The “Travelling with Medical Cannabis” guide will also be presented at Cannabis Europa, helping bring wider attention to the practical challenges patients continue to face when travelling with prescribed cannabis medicines both within the UK and internationally.
Alongside this, a dedicated awareness taskforce has been established and discussions are ongoing around a broader awareness campaign. At this stage, the pillar is engaging with potential charities and external organisations before confirming further details, with updates to be shared with members in due course.
We have also established a Standards taskforce, which will begin meeting in June. The aim of this group will be to encourage collaboration around standards and best practice across the industry.
Any members interested in contributing to the upcoming establishment of the Standards Taskforce or wider Pillar 3 activities are encouraged to get in touch with Pillar 3 lead Adam Windish at adam.windish@cicouncil.org.uk.
